Valrico homeowners usually have room to work with. The question isn't whether a patio fits, it's how to lay out a backyard so the patio, the lawn, the beds and maybe a fire pit or kitchen all work together — and so water from the higher part of the lot doesn't end up on the new pavers.
We plan the whole yard first, even if you build it in stages.
We'll walk your property, look at how water moves, and put a written plan in your hands.

The homes here
Valrico mixes established 1980s and 90s subdivisions, larger semi-rural parcels, and gated golf-course communities. Many homes have mature trees and full-size backyards. Lots here are noticeably less flat than in coastal Hillsborough.
Soil, storms and base prep in Valrico
A little elevation change goes a long way. On a sloped Valrico lot, stormwater picks up speed across the yard and carries mulch and sand with it. That is where a low retaining or seat wall earns its place — holding a level patio pad and steering water around it. The patio base itself needs to be pitched with the slope in mind, not just away from the house.
Permits & HOAs
Valrico is unincorporated Hillsborough County. Gated and golf communities like River Hills have architectural review; rural parcels usually don't. Retaining walls over certain heights may need engineering — we'll tell you if yours crosses that line.
Can we do the patio now and the rest later?
Yes, and many people do. We just design the full layout first so the patio base, drainage and any gas or electrical runs for a future kitchen or lighting are placed right from day one. That saves tearing up new pavers later.
