Walls fail from water, not weight. Every wall we build starts below grade on a compacted aggregate footing, gets clean drainage stone and a perforated drain line behind it, and is stepped and pinned course by course. Seat walls, planter walls and fire pit surrounds get the same treatment so they still look new years later.
